David Pethick

Dave Pethick is president of the Energy & Environment Business Unit of URS Corporation’s Washington Division (formerly Washington Group International, a $4 billion global engineering, construction, and management company acquired by URS Corporation in November 2007).

Mr. Pethick has general management responsibility for the business unit’s $3 billion work for the U.S. Department of Energy, encompassing management and operation of complex nuclear and chemical sites, project management services at high-hazard facilities, safety management consulting, nuclear component fabrication, nuclear material management and treatment, and technology development. Mr. Pethick has more than 36 years of nuclear industry management experience.

Prior to being promoted to his current position in 2008, Mr. Pethick served as executive vice president of operations for Energy & Environment and was responsible for overseeing operations at up to 20 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites – including some of nation’s most technically challenging and complex nuclear operations and projects. Earlier, Mr. Pethick was the business unit’s executive vice president of business development. During that time, he helped lead a period of unprecedented success when the business unit won nine major DOE contracts and added more than $11 billion in managed new work to the Company’s books.

Prior to joining Washington Group International, Mr. Pethick was the corporate vice president of planning and business development for McDermott International. In addition, he served as general manager for five government businesses and an armament and defense manufacturing plant. He was also vice president for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, and for 20 years, he held management positions in nuclear fuel component manufacturing for the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Pethick earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a Juris Doctor degree from American University.
